Sarah Hampton, 6 Meridian Founding Partner & Wealth Advisor, has long been a proponent of mentorship, continually serving as mentor to numerous upcoming team members at 6 Meridian and having been a mentee herself early in her career. Uplifting women in the workplace is high among her priorities as a female leader in a male-dominated industry.
So, it was a wonderful alignment of passion and purpose for Sarah to serve as a mentor for the 12th Annual Wichita Business Journal Mentoring Monday event held at Mark Arts on February 24. This year’s event brought together some of the region’s most accomplished businesswomen as speakers, panelists, and mentors to provide busy professional women an efficient way to build a professional network and gain constructive feedback.
Sarah reflected on her role as a mentor:
“Being a mentor is important to me because sharing my experiences – both my challenges and my successes – can help other women. We are stronger when we share with each other, and if we can positively contribute to the growth and successes of others, then I believe we should do so.
A recurring concern expressed by participants was the lack of coaching opportunities available in our area for professional businesswomen. The collective feedback highlighted the need for specialized coaching opportunities, as women often have to approach business differently, particularly in relationship-driven industries. The consensus among participants was that increased access to coaching is essential for women to succeed in these roles, given the complexities of building relationships as a woman.
I appreciate the Wichita Business Journal providing this mentorship event to help fill the mentorship gap women experience. In addition to expanding our knowledge, it provides camaraderie around the collective challenges and successes that professional women encounter.”
Sarah’s comments highlight her deep dedication to mentorship and her commitment to helping create an environment at 6 Meridian where future leaders can thrive as our team grows and evolves. Our founding partners recognized early on that mentorship is built on the foundation of a strong team, includes the need for building a distinct culture, and must involve walking alongside mentees to provide continued feedback in support of their growth.
With that ideology in mind, an open invitation was provided to the women at 6 Meridian to join Sarah at this year’s mentoring event to invest in their ongoing growth and development. Zenia Acosta, Client Service Associate, was among the attendees.

“I gained a lot of insight from this event, and I wish I had received the opportunity to participate in this type of event earlier in my career. My biggest takeaway was to not be afraid to ask for guidance, especially from those you look up to. No one has life figured out, nor do they hold all the answers, but we can certainly try our best to avoid tripping over the rocks that others have tripped on in the past.”

Zenia’s experience underscores the importance of mentorship, a value that Sarah has consistently championed within our office and throughout the community. We are grateful for Sarah’s contributions and thank the Wichita Business Journal for expanding the reach of knowledge to other businesswomen through this event.
