Calvin Pearson’s first love is golf, but his second is problem solving.
Originally from Durban, South Africa, Calvin came to Wichita on a golf scholarship for Wichita State University. After several years of playing professional golf, he transitioned into the financial industry where he now employs his penchant for navigating multifaceted financial situations and educating others along the way.
“I enjoy the complexity of the planning we do for the client. I find much joy in helping others gain visibility of their financial lives and enjoy the collaborative process with clients and our team at 6 Meridian to build and implement strategies that could lead to more successful outcomes. Finding investment solutions to help minimize risk and add to the success of a client’s financial life is very rewarding to me,” Calvin says.
As a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) and Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA), Calvin also works alongside business owners to help them through the process of fully understanding the true value of what they have built, incorporating a proper exit strategy to make the business more attractive to buyers, and planning for the next stage of their lives.
Given his analytical nature, one might assume Calvin is all about numbers. However, Calvin thoroughly enjoys the personal relationship aspect, easily connecting with a diverse group of clients, and he understands how building long-term relationships and trust benefits the financial planning process.
“I believe it is important to meet clients where they are and work in tandem with them to help achieve the things they desire. Having a strong relationship and a planning-first focus plays a pivotal role in their success. It’s important that I take the time and make the effort to understand the client on a personal level.” Calvin adds.
Calvin’s love of golf extends from personal hobby to passionate advocacy, as he servers on the First Tee Greater Wichita board of directors and volunteers with the Special Olympics of Kansas Golf Program. When he’s not on the golf course, he also enjoys reading to satiate his unquenchable thirst for knowledge, keeping up with his extraordinarily busy young sons, Henry and Benjamin, and spending time with his lovely wife, Erica.
